RURITAGE Project Promotion Meeting

The city of Izmir has been awarded the right to receive support for the “RURITAGE Rural Regeneration through Cultural Heritage Based Systematic Strategies” project. The total budget of İzmir, which is entitled to be an implementing city in the field of landscape, has the largest share among the implementing cities.

Studies have been continuing since May 2018 for the project, which is prepared in partnership with Izmir Institute of Technology, Demir Energy and Izmir Metropolitan Municipality.

Ensuring and supporting stakeholder participation throughout the project execution process; It is very important to establish cooperation with universities and research centers to encourage research and development activities. In this context, a promotional meeting will be held on Thursday, March 14 for academicians, doctoral and master students who are interested in the subject and want to be involved as participants / stakeholders in certain stages of the project.

During the RURITAGE project, which is a great opportunity for researchers’ careers; Participants will be able to develop their research by being included in an international working network, take part in certain local and international workshops within the scope of the project, and work in the center (RURITAGE HUB) to be established in Bergama.

What is RURITAGE:
The city of Izmir was entitled to receive support for the “RURITAGE – Rural Renewal through Systematic Strategies Based on Cultural Heritage”, which was participated in the European Union’s call for “Cultural Heritage – Rural Renewal as the Carrier of Sustainable Development” in HORIZON 2020 Program 2017. The project, prepared in partnership with Demir Enerji, Izmir Metropolitan Municipality and Izmir Institute of Technology, has been continuing since May 2018. Coordinator of the project undertaken by the Bologna University, from various countries (Italy, Spain, Austria, England, Ireland, Germany, France, Finland, Poland, the Netherlands, Hungary, Slovenia, Greece, Iceland, Norway, Turkey, Brazil, Colombia, Romania) to There are 38 partners including international organizations and universities such as UNESCO, WestBIC, ICLEI, University of Torino.

The RURITAGE project aims at sustainable development through cultural and natural heritage, and the economic development of rural areas. In this context, within the scope of the project, rural atlas application for rural heritage will be created and mapped, and regeneration models will be created in systematic innovation areas.
