The first of the IYTE-PETKIM focus meetings was held on April 02, 2019 at IYTE Technopark Izmir Innovation Center, with sessions on different topics involving PETKIM R&D staff, IYTE faculty members and participants from Technopark Start-up companies. IYTE Industrial Relations Management Unit Director Prof.Dr. Ekrem Özdemir stated that strong cooperation can be established between İYTE and PETKİM and that joint projects can contribute to the national economy and the university-industry cooperation ecosystem. In the focus meetings, views were exchanged on chemical processes, catalysts, new process technologies, polymers, valuable intermediate chemicals for various sectors, environmental technologies, waste recovery, waste disposal, materials, composites, and corrosion, and topics that could be collaborated on were discussed. IYTE-Integrated Research Center (TAM) Director Prof.Dr. Mehmet Polat shared information on the activities of TAM and the measurement, analysis and reporting that the industry may need, on possible collaborations with PETKIM. PETKİM R&D Coordinator Dr. Ayhan Ezdeşir and his team stated that they were pleased to meet with strong faculty members and start-up companies working at İYTE and noted possible joint work issues. The second İYTE-PETKİM focus meeting will be held on April 09, 2019.
